3. Application Submission: You have 20 business days to complete and submit the application. Make sure you gather all the necessary documentation in advance to avoid delays.
4. Vetting Assessment: Once your application is submitted, AGSVA will conduct a thorough background check. This includes contacting referees and possibly scheduling interviews with you and your referees to verify details.
5. Decision: After all information has been assessed, a decision-maker at AGSVA will approve or deny the clearance. You will be notified through your employer or sponsoring entity.

Waiting Times

The time it takes to process an NV1 Security Clearance varies depending on individual circumstances and the complexity of your background. Typical waiting times include:

• 5–10 business days for AGSVA to issue the security clearance application.
• 20 business days for the applicant to complete and submit the application.
• 70 business days for AGSVA to complete the vetting process.

On average, it takes around 3–4 months from the start of the process until a final decision is made.

What Happens if Your Clearance is Delayed or Denied?

Clearances may be delayed or denied for various reasons, such as incomplete documentation, issues with your background check, or delayed responses from referees. If your clearance is denied, you have the right to request a review of the decision. Your employer or sponsoring entity will guide you through the review process if necessary.

Maintaining Your NV1 Security Clearance
